HHS Finalizes FDA Employee Terminations

HHS has notified over 3,000 FDA employees who were told that they were placed on administrative leave 4/1 under government-wide reduction-in-force (RIF) efforts that their employment has been officially terminated effective 7/14. The notification follows the Supreme Court’s decision authorizing the Trump-ordered terminations. 

An FDA employee who received a termination letter on Monday told Federal News Network that HHS never corrected any of the dates or inaccurate performance ratings from their original RIF notice. “Statutes state that if a RIF notice contains errors, it needs to be reissued with corrected information and the clock starts over. This has not happened,” the FDA employee said. The employee said those officially separated from the agency have been shut out of the Human Resources system, and that they have gotten “zero information on severance.”
