‘High Immune Response’ in Pfizer Booster in Kids

Pfizer and BioNTech say they will seek FDA approval for a booster shot of their Covid vaccine for children ages 5-11. The companies say trial data demonstrate a high immune response following a booster dose in the age group.

A Pfizer statement says there was a 36-fold increase in SARS-CoV-2 omicron neutralizing titers following a third dose of the vaccine. “These data reinforce the potential function of a third dose of the vaccine in maintaining high levels of protection against the virus in this age group,” the statement says.

The companies say they will submit the data to FDA in the coming days with a request for an emergency use authorization for a vaccine booster dose for children ages 5-11.
