# House Passes Right-to-Try Bill

The House passed a right-to-try bill late 3/21 that would allow terminally ill patients access in certain circumstances to experimental therapies ([see earlier story](https://www.fdaweb.com/house-fails-to-pass-right-to-try-bill/)). The bill passed on a vote of 267-149, with 35 Democrats supporting the measure and two Republicans against it. It now heads to the Senate, which last year passed a different version of the legislation.

Last week, the House failed to pass the legislation by not reaching a two-thirds majority floor vote amid intense opposition from Democrats. This week, Republicans brought the measure through the Rules Committee process, which only requires a simple majority vote.
