Hyperfine Research Portable MRI Expanded Use

FDA has cleared a Hyperfine Research 510(k) to expand the use of its portable Swoop MRI imaging device. The point-of-care imaging device can be wheeled to a patient’s bedside, plugs into a standard wall outlet and is controlled through a wireless tablet. Hyperfine says the clearance covers enhanced imaging and software, and expands Hyperfine’s brain imaging indication to include patients aged two years old and younger. Images are captured at a patient’s bedside, with results in minutes, “enabling critical decision-making capabilities across a variety of clinical settings including neuro intensive care units, emergency departments, pediatrics, ambulatory, outpatient surgery centers and more,” the company says.
