# InControl Medical OTC Incontinence Device Cleared

FDA has cleared an InControl Medical 510(k) for the Attain, described by the company as the first over-the-counter non-implantable muscle stimulator designed for at-home use to help treat women suffering with stress, urge, mixed urinary incontinence or bowel incontinence. The device provides a guided exercise program to solve incontinence through muscle stimulation at specific frequencies in an alternating manner, according to the company. The program is intended to increase pelvic floor muscle strength that calms the detrusor muscle and stimulates a deep muscle contraction, which provides neuromuscular re-training, it says.

InControl says the device also includes a customizable probe that inflates to be “comfortably snug,” placing the stimulation in full contact with the vaginal or rectal wall. “A probe provides active resistance for a full muscle contraction, repositioning musculature into a resting position between contractions,” it says.
