*Federal Register* notice: FDA has submitted to OMB an information collection extension for “Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waiver Applications” (OMB Control Number 0910-0598). CLIA establishes quality standards for all laboratory testing, and it requires that clinical laboratories obtain a certificate before accepting materials derived from the human body for laboratory tests. FDA has the authority to determine whether particular tests (waived tests) are “simple” and have “an insignificant risk of an erroneous result” under CLIA.
