Info Collection on New Dietary Ingredients

Federal Register notice: FDA is seeking comments on an information collection revision entitled “Premarket Notification for a New Dietary Ingredient—21 CFR 190.6.” The collection supports agency regulations and guidance on manufacturer or distributor notifications when a new dietary ingredient (NDI) or a dietary supplement that contains the NDI is marketed. The revision is based on information contained in a 2016 guidance on what qualifies as an NDI, when an NDI notification is required, the types of data and information that manufacturers and distributors should consider when they evaluate the safety of a dietary supplement containing an NDI, and what should be included in such notifications, as well as other topics.
