# Initial Device Safety Summaries Out

FDA has released the first nine safety summaries developed by the agency and ECRI from a comprehensive literature search and systematic review to identify the current state of knowledge about medical device material performance after implantation. The [summaries](https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/science-and-research-medical-devices/medical-device-material-safety-summaries-ecri-reports?ref=fdaweb.com) are for materials that are commonly used in implantable medical devices and the effects of those materials on patients over time.

Summaries are available for magnesium, polypropylene, polyurethanes, siloxanes, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene glycol (PEG), silver, acrylic acid derivatives, and polyhydroxy acids, including PLA, PGA, and other blends and copolymers.
