Insight Recalls 1 Lot of Americaine Topical Spray

FDA says Insight Pharmaceuticals is recalling one lot of Americaine 20% benzocaine topical anesthetic spray. An agency notice says that while benzene is not an ingredient in any of the Americaine topical spray products, the manufacturer and its third-party laboratory found that a sample from one lot of the product showed a low level of benzene came from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can. The company says that no other lots are involved in the recall.

Insight says the affected lot was distributed nationwide in the U.S. through a limited number of retailers and online.
