Internal Therapeutic Massagers Put Into Class 2

Federal Register notice: FDA has classified internal therapeutic massagers into Class 2 (special controls). This action is based on an 8/20 National Center for Pelvic Pain Research Devices request for De Novo classification of the AHIP Internal Trigger Point Wand. Such devices are identified as hand-held prescription devices intended for medical purposes to manually provide direct pressure applied to localized areas of pain or tenderness in the myofascial tissue associated with chronic pelvic pain syndromes. The device is inserted rectally or vaginally and provides quantitative feedback to the user of the applied force to the target tissue. To view the notice, click here.
