Invokana Could Change DKD Treatment: Spherix

Spherix Global Insights says that approval of a new indication for Janssen’s Invokana, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor, could lead to a paradigm shift in the way patients with Type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease are treated in the future. Invokana was approved to treat Type 2 diabetes in 3/2013 and on 9/30 was also approved for new indication to slow the progression of diabetic kidney disease. Spherix says Janssen has entered into an agreement with Vifor Pharma to promote the new indication to nephrologists.
