Israeli Firm Selling Adulterated Unapproved Drugs Online: FDA

An FDA review of websites maintained by Navah Pharma/Bigdam Inc, based in Netanya, Israel (Navah) and Atlanta, GA (Bigdam), determined that the firms are selling unapproved new drugs through several online websites. A 5/4 Warning Letter says the Websites are selling RSV Hypertonic Saline 3% and Hypertonic Saline 7% in the U.S. The letter lists information from the products’ labeling and Websites showing they are intended to function as drugs.

FDA says it also reviewed records it requested from the firms and found significant violations of current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) regulations for finished drugs, in that the company failed to establish an adequate quality control unit with the responsibility and authority to approve or reject all components, drug product containers, closures, in-process materials, packaging materials, labeling, and drug products. The CGMP violations adulterate the firm’s products, the agency says.

Naveh/Bigdam was told to respond with a list of specific actions it has taken to address the violations and prevent their recurrence, with a schedule for completing the corrections.
