John Jenkins Joins Greenleaf Health

FDA regulatory consulting firm Greenleaf Health has hired recently retired CDER Office on New Drugs (OND) director John Jenkins as principal for drugs and biologics. Jenkins retired last month after almost 25 years at FDA, and nearly 32 years of federal government service. He joined the agency in 1992 as a medical officer in CDER’s former Division of Oncology and Pulmonary Drug Products. He later served as pulmonary medical group leader and acting division director before being appointed director of the newly created Division of Pulmonary Drug Products in 1995. In 1999, Jenkins was named director of the Office of Drug Evaluation II and served in that position until he was appointed OND director in 2002.

In November, Greenleaf brought on two former senior FDA officials — former Office of Regional Operations director David Elder and former CDRH associate director for regulations and policy Kate Cook. The consulting firm is loaded with ex-FDA talent, including former FDA chief of staff Patrick Ronan, former counselor to the commissioner and principal deputy commissioner John Taylor, former CDRH director Daniel Schultz, former associate commissioner for regulatory affairs Michael Chappell, and former CDRH 510(k) staff director Heather Rosecrans, among others (see staff listing).
