Joint Panel to Review ‘Abuse-deterrent’ Pain Drug

Federal Register notice: FDA has announced an 11/14 Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee and Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee joint meeting. Panel members are scheduled to discuss a SpecGx NDA for an immediate-release oral tablet formulation of pain drug oxycodone, which is intended to resist common methods of physical or chemical manipulation and to deter intravenous and intranasal abuse. They will also be asked to determine whether data adequately demonstrate that information about the abuse-deterrent properties are sufficient to include in the product label, and whether the product should be approved.
