Jubilant Cadista Recalls 1 Contraceptive Lot

Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals (Salisbury, MD) has recalled one lot of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets due to out-of-specification dissolution results at the three-month stability time point. The affected product is made by contract manufacturer Cyndea Pharma in Soria, Spain. As a result of the dissolution results, product efficacy may be decreased due to incomplete absorption of the active ingredients, a recall notice says. To date, Jubilant says it has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall. Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets are an estrogen/progestin combination oral contraceptive.
