# KemPharm Plans Drug Trial for Stimulant Use Disorder

FDA is permitting KemPharm to proceed under an IND with its planned clinical investigation of KP879 and its use in treating stimulant use disorder (SUD). The company says that SUDs include conditions marked by abuse/misuse of cocaine, methamphetamines, prescription stimulant products that contain methylphenidate or amphetamine, and numerous designer stimulants including, for example, 3,4-methylenedioxypyrovalerone and 4-methylmethcathinone (mephedrone, also known as bath salts). The company expects to start the clinical program later this year.
