Kennedy Senate Hearing Postponed

A Senate HELP Committee hearing tentatively planned for 4/10 has been postponed because the focus of interest, HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., reportedly could not appear this week. Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT), chairman and ranking member of the Senate HELP Committee respectively, invited Kennedy last week to testify on his reorganization of the department, which led to 3,500 FDA employees being cut. The 4/1 invitation letter said the senators were “following up on the commitment you made during the confirmation process that as secretary you would come before the HELP committee on a quarterly basis, upon request of the chair.” The hearing will be scheduled for a future date when Kennedy and the committee reach agreement on a definitive date.
