Foshan Flying Medical Products Co. Foshan City, China (8/1): FDA inspected the firm in February and cited significant GMP violations with its finished pharmaceuticals. For example, the firm failed to establish an adequate quality control unit and procedures applicable to the quality control unit with the responsibility and authority to approve or reject all components, drug product containers, closures, in-process materials, packaging materials, labeling, and drug products. The firm failed to perform, for each batch of drug product, appropriate laboratory determination of satisfactory conformance to final specifications for the drug product, including the identity and strength of each active ingredient, prior to release, and conduct appropriate laboratory testing for each batch of drug product required to be free of objectionable microorganisms.

Homeolab USA Montreal, Canada (8/2): FDA inspected the firm in January and cited it for significant GMP violations with its finished pharmaceuticals. For example, the firm failed to establish and follow adequate control procedures to monitor the output and to validate the performance of those manufacturing processes that may be responsible for causing variability in the characteristics of in-process material and the drug product. The agency was concerned that multiple lots of homeopathic in-process powder blends were released prior to attempting to validate its manufacturing process. The blend mixtures are provided to Raritan Pharmaceuticals, a contract manufacturing organization, to produce finished homeopathic drug products for the U.S. market. Additionally, the firm was found to not perform appropriate identity testing for the components that are used in its drug manufacturing process. And the firm’s on-site consultant prevented the FDA investigator for photographing a piece of manufacturing equipment that had excess material clinging to its sides.
