Leaf of Life Marketing Illegal New Drugs: FDA

FDA says its review of a Web site maintained by Leaf of Life, St. Louis, MO, determined that the company takes orders for several dietary supplements that are legally considered to be drugs because they are intended for use in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. A just-released 8/4 Warning Letter says the firm’s products are considered unapproved new drugs based on claims the company makes for them. The drugs also are misbranded because they do not contain adequate directions for use.

Leaf of Life was told to respond with a list of specific steps it has taken to correct the violations and prevent their recurrence, with related documentation and a schedule for completing the corrections.
