# Lilly Drops Solanezumab on Negative Results

Lilly says it is ending clinical development of solanezumab for preclinical Alzheimer’s disease due to disappointing results from the Phase 3 A4 study that was launched in 2013\. The company [reports](https://investor.lilly.com/news-releases/news-release-details/lilly-provides-update-a4-study-solanezumab-preclinical?ref=fdaweb.com) that the drug failed to meet its primary or secondary endpoints in that it did not slow cognitive decline in preclinical Alzheimer’s disease and did not reduce the risk of progression to symptomatic Alzheimer’s.
