# Lilly Reports CV Risk Reduction with Trulicity

Eli Lilly says data from its REWIND study, a cardiovascular (CV) outcomes trial involving diabetes drug Trulicity (dulaglutide), showed a significant 12% reduction in major cardiovascular events (MACE), a composite endpoint of non-fatal myocardial infarction (heart attack), non-fatal stroke or CV death. “REWIND data showed a consistent MACE effect in people with and without established CV disease,” it says. “The CV risk reduction was sustained throughout the trial's duration.”

The[ company notes](https://investor.lilly.com/news-releases/news-release-details/trulicityr-dulaglutide-significantly-reduced-major?ref=fdaweb.com) that REWIND is the longest cardiovascular outcome trial in the GLP-1 receptor agonist class (median 5.4 years) and consisted primarily of people without established CV disease. “While all participants had CV risk factors, only 31% of study participants had established CV disease.” REWIND compared Trulicity 1.5 mg to placebo, both in addition to standard of care, on CV risks in 9,901 adults with Type 2 diabetes.
