# Lilly’s Bebtelovimab Not Authorized in U.S.

FDA says Lilly’s bebtelovimab is not currently authorized for emergency use in the U.S. because it is not expected to neutralize two prevalent Omicron subvariants. An agency [statement](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-announces-bebtelovimab-not-currently-authorized-any-us-region?ref=fdaweb.com) says the company and its authorized distributors have paused the commercial distribution of bebtelovimab until further notice from FDA.

The government recommends that all products be retained in case SARS-CoV-2 variants susceptible to bebtelovimab, which are currently circulating at lower prevalence, become more prevalent in the future in the U.S.

The notice says that healthcare providers should use other approved or authorized products that are expected to retain activity against the two subvariants.
