LivaNova Blood-Gas Monitor for Heart-lung Machine

FDA has cleared a LivaNova 510(k) for B-Capta, an in-line, blood-gas monitoring system integrated into its S5 heart-lung machine. The device is designed to monitor arterial and venous blood gas parameters during long and complex pediatric and adult cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, the company says. B-Capta uses an innovative sensing technology to provide measurements that allow the perfusionist to quickly react to parameter change, it says. Additionally, the device features a setup that does not require calibration at the beginning of a procedure.
