FDA commissioner **Martin Makary** marked his 100th day on the job with a statement celebrating “the agency’s accomplishments in the bipartisan effort to Make America Healthy Again.” The [statement](https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USFDA/bulletins/3e8e449?ref=fdaweb.com) says that in the past 100 days, FDA has launched dozens of key initiatives across the full range of the agency’s purview to make food healthier for children and families, accelerate meaningful cures and treatments, and modernize the agency with transparency, gold-standard science, and common sense.

He lists 32 highlights under these categories: Healthier Food for Children; More Meaningful Cures, Treatments, and Diagnostics; Gold-Standard Science and Common Sense; Unleashing AI and Big Data; and Modernization and Radical Transparency.

Among the claimed highlights are:

- reducing animal testing;
- Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher Program;
- revised Covid-19 vaccine regulatory framework;
- cell and gene therapy innovation;
- unannounced foreign inspections;
- protecting Americans’ biological samples;
- enhancing drug importation;
- equipping agency reviewers with an artificial intelligence tool; and
- transparent communications, agenda, and decision-making.

“I’m excited by what the talented FDA team has been able to achieve in 100 days by embracing gold-standard science, radical transparency, and common sense,” Makary concludes. “This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to introduce initiatives to modernize the agency, protect consumers, bring more meaningful cures, treatments, and diagnostics to patients, and make healthier food available for children, using the best science and data to Make America Healthy Again.”
