Man Indicted for Selling Counterfeit Cancer Drugs

A Texas federal grand jury has indicted Sanjay Kumar of Bihar, India, on charges of selling and shipping tens of thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit cancer drugs into the U.S. A Department of Justice statement says Kumar and his co-conspirators allegedly arranged for the sale and shipment of fake, counterfeit versions of oncology drugs, including Merck’s Keytruda (pembrolizumab), to individuals in the U.S.

Kumar is charged with one count of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit drugs and four counts of trafficking in counterfeit drugs, the statement says. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each count.
