Med-Pharmx Selling Adulterated Animal Drugs: DoJ

The Justice Department has filed a civil complaint in a California federal court seeking a permanent injunction against Med-Pharmx and two individuals to prevent them from manufacturing and distributing animal drugs under conditions that fall short of the minimum regulatory requirements to ensure safety and quality. A Justice Department statement says multiple FDA inspections repeatedly showed that the defendants failed to conform to current good manufacturing practices, including failing to maintain sterility.

The company was issued an FDA Warning Letter in 2017, the complaint says, citing numerous deficiencies. The complaint also says Med-Pharmx failed to adequately investigate reports about the death or illness of animals receiving Med-Pharmx drugs. And it says that FDA inspections found that the company failed to properly clean and disinfect areas used to manufacture sterile drugs.
