# Medtronic Next-Gen Micra Pacemakers Approved

FDA has approved a Medtronic PMA for its Micra AV2 and Micra VR2 next-generation miniaturized, leadless pacemakers. The devices are designed to provide longer battery life and easier programming than prior Micra pacemakers, the company says. The Micra AV2 device also includes advanced algorithms that automatically program atrioventricular (AV) synchrony, which coordinates the heart’s upper and lower chambers, it says. “Also, for patients who are active, Micra AV2 has a higher available tracking capability for faster heart rates (increased from 115 to 135 beats per minute for upper limits),” it adds.
