Merck Pediatric Pneumococcal Vaccine Review Extended

FDA has extended by three months its review of a Merck supplemental BLA for Vaxneuvance (pneumococcal 15-valent conjugate vaccine) in infants and children. The agency extension provides more time for it to review requested additional analyses of data from Merck’ pediatric studies. The company notes no new studies have been requested. The vaccine is currently indicated for active immunization of adults 18 years of age and older for preventing invasive disease caused by the S. pneumoniae serotypes contained in the vaccine. The submission’s new review action target date is 7/1.
