MiRus Lumbar Interbody Device Cleared

FDA has cleared a MiRus 510(k) for its IO Expandable Lumbar Interbody device for use in posterior and transforaminal fusion procedures. The device features a low insertion profile (4mm) and long expansion (18mm) in a single implant, the company says. The expandable implant, which allows for 2.5cc of biologic to be post-packed in the inter-vertebral space, makes it easier for surgeons to restore lordosis, maintain sagittal balance while reducing the challenges of insertion and related neural injury, it says. The device is intended to be used in skeletally mature patients with degenerative disc disease at one or two contiguous levels from L1-L2 to L5-S1.
