Moderna and Merck say their mRNA-4157/V940 investigational personalized mRNA cancer vaccine in combination with Keytruda (pembrolizumab) met its primary endpoint in the Phase 2b KEYNOTE-942 trial. A joint [announcement](https://investors.modernatx.com/news/news-details/2022/Moderna-and-Merck-Announce-mRNA-4157V940-an-Investigational-Personalized-mRNA-Cancer-Vaccine-in-Combination-with-KEYTRUDAR-pembrolizumab-Met-Primary-Efficacy-Endpoint-in-Phase-2b-KEYNOTE-942-Trial/default.aspx?ref=fdaweb.com) says the vaccination demonstrated a significant and clinically meaningful reduction in the risk of disease recurrence or death compared to Keytruda monotherapy in stage III/IV melanoma patients with a high risk of recurrence following complete resection.

The companies say they will discuss the results with regulatory authorities and will initiate a Phase 3 study in melanoma in 2023 and rapidly expand to additional tumor types.
