Moderna, Pfizer Bivalent Vaccine EUAs Amended for Young

FDA has amended the emergency use authorizations of the updated (bivalent) Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines for use in children as young as six months.

An FDA release says that the Moderna bivalent vaccine is now authorized for use in children aged six months through five years as a single booster dose that can be administered at least two months after completion of primary vaccination with the monovalent Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.

The agency says that the Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent vaccine is now authorized for use in children aged six months through four years as the third dose of the three-dose primary series with the monovalent Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine. The bivalent vaccine is also authorized for administration in individuals five years of age and older as a single booster dose at least two months after completing either primary vaccination with any Covid-19 vaccine.
