Moon Surgical’s AI-enabled ScoPilot Cleared

FDA has cleared a Moon Surgical 510(k) for its ScoPilot, an artificial intelligence-powered feature on the company’s Maestro System that is intended to ensure a stable and ideal view during laparoscopic surgery. “On-demand and easy to use, ScoPilot allows the laparoscope attached to a Maestro System to follow a desired instrument tip seamlessly,” the company says. “The surgeon controls laparoscope positioning, without disengaging from the instruments in their hands, helping maintain surgical flow and focus.” ScoPilot allows a surgeon to control three instruments with just two hands, it adds, while offering a safe field of view during surgery.

Moon Surgical says its Maestro System was originally cleared 6/2024 and has been used to treat over 1,100 patients across the U.S. and Europe, covering general, bariatric, gynecologic, and urologic surgeries.
