# Mt. Derm's Exceed OK'd for Acne Scarring

FDA has cleared a Mt. Derm 510(k) to expand the use of its Exceed microneedling device for treating acne scarring. Previously, the device was cleared for treating facial wrinkles. The new clearance was based on data from a clinical study that evaluated the device’s efficacy and safety when used for treating acne scars in 56 subjects 18 to 62 years of age, according to the company. The subjects were treated with four microneedling sessions 30 days apart, and assessed for changes in acne scarring using an internationally recognized acne grading scale, it says.

The study, according to Mt. Derm, demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in facial acne scarring, with 85% of subjects exhibiting a visible improvement in their scars at the end of the study. No subject's acne scarring worsened, the company says.
