# Multiple Violations Found at Philippines’ Skin Sciences

A 1/30-2/1 FDA inspection at Skin Sciences Laboratory, Pasig City, Philippines, found significant violations of CGMP regulations for finished pharmaceuticals along with misbranding and unapproved new drug violations. A 7/28 [Warning Letter](https://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/2017/ucm569981.htm?ref=fdaweb.com) lists the violations as: 

- failing to have, for each batch of drug product, appropriate laboratory determination of satisfactory conformance to final specifications for the drug product, including the identity and strength of each active ingredient; and
- failing to withhold from use each lot of components, drug product containers, and closures until the lot was sampled, tested, or examined, as appropriate, and released for use by the quality control unit.

The letter says the firm’s responses to the two observations were inadequate. The letter also notes unapproved new drug and misbranding violations for the firm’s Essence Skin-Saving Antiperspirant and VMV Hypoallergenics Essence Simple-Gentle Skin-Saving Toothpaste.

Skin Sciences was told to respond with a list of steps it has taken since the inspection to correct the violations and prevent their recurrence, along with a timetable for completion.
