# Musk’s DOGE Cancels Leases on 30 FDA Field Offices

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is claiming that it terminated the leases of 30 FDA field offices and laboratories throughout the U.S. The largest is a laboratory facility in St. Louis, MO, a 51,963 sq. ft. field office and laboratory that costs about $2.5 million annually under the lease, according to DOGE’s [“Wall of Receipts.”](https://doge.gov/savings?ref=fdaweb.com)

The agency has several field offices in the area, according to First Alert 4 News in St. Louis. Several FDA employees told the news group that they are still working in the facility and have yet to receive guidance on when the lease will expire. The facility specializes in drug evaluation and research, according to First Alert 4, and FDA has invested millions into [interior and exterior renovations,](https://www.chiodini.com/projects/fda-center-for-drug-evaluation-and-research-st-louis-laboratory/?ref=fdaweb.com) including its laboratory spaces, according to an architect that worked on the facility. 

HHS has not responded to an ***FDA Webview*** request on the status of the employees working at the facilities.
