# New CDER Medical Policy Director Named

CDER has appointed a National Institutes of Health (NIH) official as director of its Office of Medical Policy (OMP). Center director **Janet Woodcock** says that **Jacqueline Corrigan-Curay** will start on 10/16\. In an announcement to Center staff, Woodcock said that Corrigan-Curay “brings to the position a unique legal, scientific, policy, and clinical background, with expertise in risk and scientific assessment, and clinical trial design and oversight.”

For the last 10 years she has been at NIH, where she developed policies and procedures focusing on clinical research conduct and oversight. Her most recent position was as a supervisory medical officer with the Office of the Director at the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Corrigan-Curay also has held director and acting director roles with the Office of Biotechnology Activities, Office of Science Policy at NIH. Before joining NIH she was an attending physician with the VA Medical Center, a policy analyst with the congressional Office of Technology Assessment, and a practicing attorney in Washington, DC.

She earned her law degree from Harvard Law School, medical degree from University of Maryland Medical School, and a bachelor’s degree in history of science from Harvard/Radcliffe College.

Woodcock said that **Denise Hinton**, who was acting director, will resume her position as OMP deputy director.
