# New FDA Convalescent Plasma Guidance

FDA issued 1/7 a new guidance with recommendations to healthcare providers and investigators on the use of Covid-19 convalescent plasma under the emergency use authorization or investigational convalescent plasma under an IND during the current public health emergency. The [document](https://www.fda.gov/regulatory-information/search-fda-guidance-documents/investigational-covid-19-convalescent-plasma?ref=fdaweb.com) supersedes a 2/2021 guidance and has recommendations on pathways for use of investigational convalescent plasma, collection of convalescent plasma, and record keeping. It also provides recommendations to blood establishments on collection.

The guidance includes Introduction, Background, Recommendations, and References.

The guidance is intended to remain in effect for the duration of the public health emergency.
