NIH Ends Lilly Covid Antibody Study

Following the advice from an independent data and safety monitoring board, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) says no additional subjects will be enrolled in a clinical trial evaluating a Lilly investigational monoclonal antibody in hospitalized patients with Covid-19. The board made its recommendation based on a low likelihood that the intervention would be of clinical value in this hospitalized patient population, an NIH statement says.

NIH says the 326 participants already enrolled in the study will continue to be followed until day 90. Study participants received either an experimental agent or a matched placebo and also received standard of care for patients hospitalized with Covid-19 including the antiviral remdesivir.
