# Noorchashm Warns of Covid Vaccine ‘Immunological Danger’

Cardiac surgeon **Hooman Noorchashm**, known to FDA for his [opposition](https://www.fdaweb.com/login.php?sa=v&aid=D5142572&searchWords=Noorchashm&cate=S&stid=%241%24jy4.wy..%24A0HHPIirR1a0pf6sqbyyf) to power morcellation, has contacted the agency and vaccine makers Pfizer and Moderna about the immunological danger he says could be posed by the Covid-19 vaccine to the recently convalescent or asymptomatic carriers of SARS-CoV-2, and especially those who are elderly, frail, or have significant cardiovascular risk factors. In his [messages](https://noorchashm.medium.com/a-letter-of-warning-to-fda-and-pfizer-on-the-immunological-danger-of-covid-19-vaccination-in-the-7d17d037982d?ref=fdaweb.com), Noorchashm says that if viral antigens are present in the tissues of subjects who undergo vaccination, it is almost certain that the antigen-specific immune response triggered by the vaccine will target those tissues and cause tissue inflammation and damage.

He recommends that FDA, in collaboration with Pfizer and Moderna, announce clear recommendations to clinicians that they delay immunization in any recently convalescent patients as well as any known symptomatic or asymptomatic carriers. He also recommends screening for patients with high cardiovascular risk to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 before vaccinating them.

Noorchashm stresses that he considers his warning to be a “prognostication” due to the absence of clear evidence of a material risk because the vaccine has only been in use for several weeks.

“I want to be very clear that I am an ardent supporter of President \[**Joe**\] **Biden**’s plan to vaccinate 150 million Americans in 100 days,” he says. “And that my letter is not to be abused by political, uninformed, or conspiratorial forces attempting to dissuade the American public from being vaccinated. I do believe that it is the patriotic duty of every American who can reasonably and safely be vaccinated to do so, in order that we save our nation from this pandemic peril that is threatening our very existence.”
