# Nostrum Recalls Some Metformin for NDMA Contamination

FDA says Nostrum Laboratories has recalled four lots of extended-release metformin because it may contain N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) above the acceptable intake limit. An agency [notice](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-and-press-announcements-ndma-metformin?ref=fdaweb.com) says the recall covers two lots of 500 mg tablets and two lots of 750 mg tablets.

The agency maintains a recalled metformin [list](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/search-list-recalled-metformin-products?ref=fdaweb.com) with details about metformin products that have been recalled. FDA says its testing has not shown NDMA in immediate-release metformin products.
