# Novartis Seeking EUA for Covid Therapeutic

Novartis and Molecular Partners are planning to seek an FDA emergency use authorization after reporting results from the EMPATHY clinical trial that compared single intravenous doses of ensovibep, a DARPin antiviral therapeutic candidate, compared with placebo in treating Covid-19\. Trial data showed that the therapy met the primary endpoint of viral load reduction over eight days, Novartis says. Data on two secondary endpoints also showed clinically meaningful benefit over placebo, such as a composite endpoint of hospitalization, emergency room visits or death that found a 78% reduction in event risk across ensovibep arms compared to placebo. Novartis says it is exercising its option to in-license ensovibep from Molecular Partners.
