Novo Nordisk Halts 3 Hemophilia Trials Over Safety

Novo Nordisk has halted two clinical trials in its concizumab Phase 3 development program (explorer 7 and 8) and one clinical trial in the Phase 2 program (explorer5) due to safety issues. The three trials were investigating concizumab prophylaxis treatment in hemophilia A and B patients regardless of inhibitor status. The decision to stop the trials was based on three non-fatal thrombotic events experienced in the Phase 3 program, the company says. Novo Nordisk adds that it and an independent data monitoring committee are currently assessing the relevance of the events to the continuation of the program, and no conclusions have yet been made.
