‘Objectionable Conditions’ at Clinical Trial Site

A 10/11-11/10/16 FDA inspection at a clinical trial site operated by Merrill Benson at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN, found “objectionable conditions” at a trial of an investigational drug. The inspection was part of the agency’s Bioresearch Monitoring Program to ensure that research data are scientifically valid and accurate and to help ensure that the rights, safety, and welfare of human study subjects are protected. A 3/20 Warning Letter says that specific problems included failing to ensure that the investigation was conducted according to the investigational plan.

Benson was told to respond with a list of actions taken to prevent similar violations in the future.
