Octapharma Recalls 1 Lot of Octagam

Octapharma USA has recalled one lot (#K551A8441) of Octagam [immune globulin intravenous (human)] 5% liquid preparation due to an increased number of reports of hypersensitivity events. “Although there have been no reports of serious injury at this time, Octapharma has determined, through consultation with the public health authorities at FDA, the most prudent course of action is to suspend further administration of this Octagam from this production lot,” a recall notice says. Octagam is used for primary humoral immunodeficiency (eg, congenital agammaglobulinemia, common variable immunodeficiency, X-linked agammaglobulinemia, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, and severe combined immunodeficiencies).
