# OIG Work Plan Has 5 Drug, Device Activities

The HHS Office of Inspector General 2017 work plan includes five items relating to FDA oversight of drugs and medical devices. The [document](https://oig.hhs.gov/reports-and-publications/archives/workplan/2017/HHS%20OIG%20Work%20Plan%202017.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) lists: 

- evaluation of hospitals’ reliance on drug compounding outsourcing facilities;
- FDA’s review of networked medical device cybersecurity during the premarket process;
- response planning for a networked medical device compromise;
- review of prescription drug user fees; and
- review of information exchange in the drug supply chain.

The work plan also has entries dealing with FDA’s oversight of tobacco and food safety.
