Oncolytics Biotech Fast Track for Reolysin

FDA has granted Oncolytics Biotech a fast track designation for Reolysin, an immuno-oncology viral agent for treating metastatic breast cancer. Last month, the company reported Phase 2 data from an open-label, randomized study assessing the therapeutic combination of intravenously-administered Reolysin given in combination with paclitaxel versus paclitaxel alone in patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer. “The combined treatment demonstrated a statistically significant increase in median overall survival,” the company says. Oncolytics adds that it will soon request an End-of-Phase 2 meeting with the agency to obtain scientific guidance for a Phase 3 program.
