OriGen Biomedical Recalls Dual Lumen Catheter

OriGen Biomedical has recalled two lots of its Reinforced Dual Lumen catheter due to a separation risk involving the clear extension tube from the hub connection. “If separation occurs, it can result in serious adverse health consequences such as blood loss, prolonged hypotension, low cardiac output, and/or cardiopulmonary arrest,” an agency recall notice says. The device is intended to be used for venous drainage and arterial reinfusion of blood through the internal jugular vein during life support procedures of six hours or less.
