FDA has granted Enzychem Lifesciences an orphan drug designation for EC-18 for treating acute radiation syndrome caused by bioterrorism. The small molecule compound is designed for oral administration and could have a role in treating immune and inflammatory related diseases, including psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, and sepsis, according to the company.
