Ortho Trivicta Hip System Cleared

FDA has cleared an Ortho Development 510(k) for its Trivicta Hip System, a triple-taper femoral stem that is intended to facilitate an optimal fit within the hip’s canal for a diverse range of patient anatomies.

The device is designed for initial and long-term stability, and it uses a triple-tapered geometry in three separate planes and incorporates two coatings, according to the company. “Sintered beads provide initial stability and allow ingrowth for long-term stability, while hydroxyapatite promotes biological fixation,” it says. “Additionally, extraction and compaction broaching are integrated in one broach to preserve bone while ensuring optimal fit.”
