Ossio Gains Clearance for Hammertoe Fixation
FDA has cleared an Ossio 510(k) for its OssioFiber Hammertoe Fixation System for maintenance of alignment and fixation of bone fractures, osteotomies, arthrodesis and bone grafts. The bio-integrative implant with disposable, sterile instrumentation comes in three sizes, with both straight and angled configurations for patient customization, the company says. The device features the company’s OssioFiber Intelligent Bone Regeneration Technology, a fixation material that combines mechanical strength and natural bone healing in a non-permanent implant, it says. It is made from a proprietary natural mineral fiber matrix with bio-integrative material properties to provide surgeons with a “more biologically friendly way to restore patient stability and mobility while leaving nothing permanent behind,” it adds.
